What I carry has changed a lot over the years. Much of this change has to do with the fact that I now carry a lot of blog-related gear, but it also reflects a lot of knowledge I have learned about packaging since I first hit the road in 2006.
Over the years, I have learned different packaging techniques. I brought a large duffle bag, 60 liter pack, 30 liter pack, carry around and all the trips in between. I’ve finished all seasons.
And, today, I want to share this knowledge with you so that you can become a better packer because a lot of people always want to know the trip they should pack.
Answer?
As few as possible.
Packaging lights are clichés, but clichés with a lot of truth. The more I travel, the more I realize I don’t need a lot of stuff. Everything I need now fits A backpack (More suggestions for my years of testing backpacks, Click here to get my top travel backpack.
I like to write down everything I think I need and then cut it in half. I always ask myself, “Will I use it enough to justify weight?”
In most cases, the answer is no.
I only take essentials and if I really need something I don’t bring, I’ll buy it on the way. Finding medicines, clothes or umbrellas overseas is not difficult.
I also tried to stick to the same climate while traveling to avoid having to carry many different clothes. I don’t want to drag my sweater around me ThailandBut the plan can change, and if that happens, I will buy a light coat or sweater. I will keep it until the burden is done and then give.
Also, you able Washing clothes overseas, so I like to carry enough clothes for 7-10 days, do laundry and repeat. There is no need to bring a lot of things when you can clean what you have.
As for Long Answer What should you pack? Well, here is the list of packages I recommend – but you should tailor it to your needs.
((notes: This focuses on heading to non-winter climates. If you are going to a cold place, you need to make adjustments accordingly.

Special tips: Buy a small backpack Therefore, you won’t be tempted to overpack. We subconsciously want to fill in the empty space, so if you have a big bag, you are more likely to pack too much to avoid wasting space. By getting a smaller backpack, you will be forced to adopt only the essentials – and it’s a great effect!
I found this list left me with nothing. I’m sure many of you will read this and say, “But what about X?” or “You really don’t need Y.” Well, this works for you, this list works for me. Tailor your list to suit your trip.
I write this not because I think there is a perfect way to pack it, but answering repetitive questions about me packing and why. Here is my list of things that suits my “chasing the summer, staying in a hotel” lifestyle.
But the real point I want to emphasize is that you really don’t need a lot when traveling. You never need to imagine as much as you imagine.
