What airports were in the 50 most crowded world in 2024? Epsilon Aviation

We will check more than 50 airport airports in the world in 2024 and compare traffic for 2019 levels.

General Table

The table below shows the 50 most passenger airports in 2024. This blog collected the following data:

A few notes compared to 2019:

  • It was 44.9m the threshold to reach the top of 50, compared to 44.3M in 2019.
  • For top 10, it was 76.8 million in 2024 compared to 75.1.
  • Of the 2024 of the 50 best airports, 30 passengers had more passengers than in 2019, and 20 less.
  • The three airports that lost most of the traffic between 2024 and 2019 were: Beijing Beck (32.6 meters), Hong Kong Hongg (11.5 m), and Los Angeles Lux (11.5 meters).
  • The three airports that gained the largest number of traffic between 2023 and 2019 were: Doha DOH (14.0), Denver Den (13.4m) and Dallas Fort World (12.7M).
  • A few airports are still less than 10 % of the 2019 traffic levels: Los Angeles (LAX), Beijing (PEK), Frankfurt (FRA), Jakarta (CGK) and Hong Kong (HKG).

Compared to 2023:

  • Chinese airports and other Asia and the Pacific, who returned closer to 2019 levels, while American airports lost relative sites. It reflects the delay in the restoration of passengers in Asia and the Pacific.

It reflects that Chinese passengers traveled abroad in 2024 compared to 2019, and some airports are behind the traffic recovery.

The total airport traffic was more than 2019 levels 2019: 3.103 million compared to 3,081 million.
