MDC USA, USA, has launched the XT12HR Off-Grid Extreme Edition, a compact travel trailer designed for off-road enthusiasts, seeking comfort and durability in remote areas. The trailer is middling in terms of price (the mid-range is the old top-tier series) and offers a number of features that should suit most trailer enthusiasts. According to MDC USA, the trailer was built to withstand challenging terrain, 18 feet 2 inches long, 6 inches wide and 6 inches wide, with a total vehicle weight (GVWR) of 6,147 pounds.
The XT12HR’s foundation is a galvanized steel chassis and is complemented by an X-rail-free coil spring suspension system. This configuration enhances stability and controls uneven surfaces. The trailer’s 16-inch aluminum wheels are equipped with off-road tires, while the Cruisemaster DO35 Hitch helps improve off-road handling.
The XT12HR features a slide-out stainless steel kitchen with tri-burning propane stove and a sink with cold water for outdoor cooking. External refrigerator slides and ample storage ensure protection of essentials during travel, thanks to a triple hatch that protects against dust and water. A 9.8-foot wide 12-volt electric box awning provides shade and shelter, enhancing the outdoor experience.

The XT12HR features a kidney-driven electrical system that includes a 400 amp-hour lithium battery capacity, a 350-watt roof-mounted solar panel and a 3,000-watt pure sine wave inverter. This setting ensures reliable energy for extending off-grid travel. The system’s automatic transfer capability between DC batteries and AC shore power allows seamless energy management, while cloud-based connections can be monitored in real time.
The trailer includes a truma aventa Eco 13,500 BTU/H air conditioning system and a conduit Truma Varioheat 11,500 BTU/H propane furnace for year-round comfort. The cold weather bag features a water tank heating pad, aquago Comfort Heating Water Antifreeze Kit, an insulated water pipe and a self-heating lithium battery, which maintains functionality in all climates.
Safety features include the Tuson TSC-1000 electronic stability control system and a digital wireless rearview camera that enhances control and visibility during travel. The XT12 Hours also offers a rear-mounted service ladder for added accessibility and stylish new decals, all in a rigid roof design.
