Wonderful people in the aviation industry work hard at this time of the year so that the rest of us can enjoy holidays. As not enough, some of them volunteer to help share the seasonal spirit with the needy people. For example, United runs “imaginary trips” that bring children with major medical problems or other difficulties to visit Santa in the Arctic.

We managed to join the fictional journey this year from Newark Hub in United. Between pre -flight celebrations, the ball on board 767, and watching children with Santa, was one of the most intimate flying experiences in which we participated.

Read on to get a lot of photos, videos and a heavy dose of chanting holidays. In addition, we will lighten you how our crew made a trip to the Arctic.
A festive journey launch
This year was held on Saturday at the Newark Liberty International Airport.

A small army of United employees volunteered to make today’s adventures possible. The fun began with an arrival registration area with a vacation. We started interviewing guests of honor: patients with children’s hospitals in the New Jersey region who were dealing with severe conditions such as cancer.

After the checkpoint is complete, the children and their families split their way to the departure gate that volunteers decorate in holiday decor.

We have taken a look at 767-300er who will play the role of the zaba for today.

The flight crew had – again, all volunteers – a moment of quick pictures before jumping to work to prepare the trip to leave.

We liked to see that the captain will be John Wigand, the administrative director of the United Nark station operations, which also includes 40 years of flying experience. He gave us a quick introduction to today’s mission:
Children and members of their families were clearly excited to reach the plane.

Going on the plane
After a warm welcome on the plane, we look at the cabin vacation decor.

Am I just or did the Polaris brand be exposed to the Christmas air?

It was interesting to watch a group of young children, unprecedented before, to the business compartment seat.

The back cabin is also decorated.

Next station: Arctic

It was a beautiful day to fly, and Captain Wigand and his crew seemed excited to hit the sky.

Our focus was on holiday celebrations, but we also got some views of the amazing city after taking off. Captain Wigand later told us that his team had coordinated with ATC so that our journey can walk the way to watch the ideal tourist attractions on Manhattan. Given the extremist crowding in the airspace in New York City, it was not a small achievement. Which shows that this flight was a collective effort, including the help of ATC, TSA and RAMP their employees as well as the most obvious faces of the flight crew.
But wait, you might ask, do we really fly to the Arctic? Well … no. Although any of those who thought we did, we admire your faith in the magic of Christmas.

In fact, our destination was a separate gate in Newark, United volunteers decorated Santa workshop. To sell children on the trick, the crew had closed the window shades after watching the tourist attractions over New York City. Captain Weigand announced that it will push the speed of the trip to Mach 3, allowing us to reach the Arctic in about 45 minutes.
Santa welcome
After finishing the flight to the Arctic (also known as the rotation to the ground in Newark), the children came out of the plane to a great welcome.
It was impressive the extent of decorating volunteers in the temporary northern pole. There was a group, Arcade Games, Food, a member of NY GIANTS signatures, and (of course) preparing a sit -in.

My daily health care job. Thus, I can appreciate how amazing it was for invitations, who spend a lot of time in clinics and hospitals, to escape from this harsh reality for one day. “Our goal is to give these children the ability to focus on the magic of today.” Regarding the effort of the huge team required to achieve this event, she said, “This makes Newark a great place. When it is time to accomplish matters and gathering, this axis is the first place to do so.”
United runs some fictional trips a year through its network. Each one is allowed to display the spirit of his hometown, which was clear from the Newark event.

For all of you avgeeks, all of us in AirlinerePorter: best wishes for an amazing holiday season!
