Tordrillo Mountain Lodge came up with the idea of a wilderness hotel and turned it into 11. Want to go fishing in the remote Alaska bushes? Take a floating plane to Katma National Park and take pictures of the grizzly bears? Climb up to Via Ferrata, which can only be reached by air? Just say this word and they can achieve it. I lived in Tordrillo in 2023 Carterme National Park.

When the resort’s guests chop off the nearby remote areas ski terrain or paddle around Lake Judd, they can book a relaxing massage, enjoy fresh, prepared chef’s meals and relax in the hot sauna. Or, indulge in my personal favorite activity – watch the sunset from the lakeside hot tub.

If you ever wanted to sleep in your own private ghost town, Dunton Hot Springs is your resort. The site is home to a bunch of historic cabins, rustic saloons and of course a steaming hot spring building that seamlessly blends Colorado’s remote experience with luxury dining and accommodation. Fun fact: Butch Cassidy even carved his name to the main bar.

When I lived in Dunton, I was fascinated by the locale, bohemian decor, sustainable food and the Uber-Deep Hot Springs pools set in the rustic wooden building on the property. The most important thing? The cottage owners are avid book collectors, and guests can borrow books (or three) from the on-site library during the day or night. If you are seeking a camping escape, check out Dunton River Camplocated next door.

Hidden in the rusty red countertops and sandstone Bluffs in southern Utah between Lake Powell and Vermilion Cliff National Monument, Amangiri seems more like a phantom than a real deal hotel.

That’s because of its wide variety of luxurious suites and spacious suites Exposed tent It is designed to blend with the surrounding landscape and soak in a quiet way in the desert landscape. When guests don’t dine in their private attractions pool or southwestern-style live restaurant, they can embark on unique adventures such as hiking private trails, doing yoga in the wilderness, or taking a trip to the Three Slot Canyon led by a local Navajo guide.

Muir Trail Ranch (MTR) has long been a favorite stopover on the John Muir Trail, known for its wild hot springs, on-site dining and Nevada Sierra hikes. Starting with its modest cabin, guests can hike to the transparent Sallie Keys Lakes daily, or stroll along Piute Creek to the towering granite dome of Piute Canyon.

Although the attributes on this list are not as luxurious as the ones, MTR makes up for the rustic charm. Visitors will need to hike at least 5 miles along the rugged granite peaks to reach the ranch, but once they arrive, they can kick back in the private spa pool, book off-road, or just chuckle while watching hungry JMT hikers devour their long-awaited supply buckets.

Top Events: Farm to table dining, hiking, through ferrata, private soaking bathtub, mountain bike

Located at the end of a dust plane road about an hour from Phoenix, Castle Hot Springs is a literal desert oasis with palm trees and a variety of natural soaking ponds.

A bunch of lovely Casitas lists the property, home to a stylish yoga center and an organic farm, where its all-inclusive dining menu originates. But those seeking adrenaline should not worry – the spa offers something for everyone. Between the sultry soaking sessions, guests can only step on the Arizona track through Ferrata, cycling along the arid desert monorail, or hiking on a private trail at the resort. My favorite part of staying here, though, is the food. Expect incredible dishes such as locally grown Panzanella Salad and Faroe Islands salmon and tomato commeme.

I can’t write an article about top wilderness retreats without mentioning Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge. Located on Vancouver Island’s dense forested coast, the resort offers over 600 acres of UNESCO-designated biosphere reserves as its backyard.

Guests of this high-end luxury resort can only be reached by boat or by seaplane on Thursday and Sunday. Once they arrive, they are truly in remote areas. Take a helicopter to take a remote, remote area hike, or take pictures of black bears and whales on a leading wildlife adventure. At night, enjoy a spa treatment like their iconic Pacific Rhythm Massage before discussing delicious dishes like slow-cooked Canadian Bison Shoulders.

Although its amenities and accommodation options are amazingly modern choices, the huge size of the Brush Creek Ranch is hard to understand. The property covers over 30,000 acres and is about the size of the Black Canyon in Gunnison or Haleakala National Park.

Therefore, it’s easy to get yourself lost on this vast site, which is open for year-round adventures. When I visit in the winter, horseback trails and trips to Saratoga Springs are on my list, but the ranch changes with the seasons. In summer, guests can expand their view to fishing, llama hiking, mountain biking and scenic river buoys.

Near Ure, Colorado, the mountain is beautiful during the peak of summer, when all the wild flowers are blooming. This is within the San Juans Mountains of the Rockies.

To imitate the Swiss legendary mountain hut, the Red Mountain Alpine hut is one of the best preserved secrets in Colorado. It hides along the state’s famous million-dollar highway, just between the adventure hubs of Oreay and Silverton.

The cottages opened this year offer both private rooms and dormitory-style accommodation including meals. In winter, Snow Aficionados can reduce the ski terrain in remote areas or get a heart rate on off-road adventures. When summer comes, miles of high-altitude hiking trails pass through rocky peaks and wildflower meadows in the San Juan Mountains.
