A South Alberta man returns a small savings back to Costa Rica
An Alberta South man took his talented artifact to Costa Rica in February. Amulet has been in the family for more than five decades, blessed by exchange students. Don McDougall told Global newsThe artifact is a gift of thanks to his father.
“In 1971, my parents sponsored a exchange student from Costa Rica. His father was very impressed with some of the things he had to do, he sent my dad this artifact to thank you.”
McDougall discovered rare artifacts during his father’s artifact collection. After doing some research, McDougall quickly learned that the charms, used for burial, may be at least 1,000 years. Thus, McDougall sent a question to the museum at Costa Rica. He immediately heard from the Costa Rica National Museum in San Jose, excited to learn more about his artefacts.
After flying to San Jose, California, McDougall was fascinated by acceptance, met with archaeologists and police escorts.
“Then we made an official transfer, I had to sign some documents and so on,” McDougall said. “They are very interested in how I can get artifacts in the first place.”
According to archaeologists, the talisman can be anywhere between 1,300 and 2,500 years. Finally, McDougall did the right thing, while the Costa Rica National Museum in San Jose had a perfect reaction to rare artifacts.
Costa Rica is famous for bamboo and seed jewelry.
