It is well documented now that Canadians avoid the United States. However, The loyal type of Canadian tourist continues to break the US boycottStill visiting American hot spots. Right. There are certain types of travelers who still book our trips first and pay for a huge premium.
This type of traveler needs a visa if they plan to stay longer than 6 months. The US is strictly on those who go beyond the limits. We have seen Canada denies this year’s entry for the purpose of travelingwhich led to GST believe that tourists plan to expand their accommodation longer than six months.
However, a new bill has emerged that can extend the accommodation. The bill does not apply to every type of traveler.
This is a closer view of the situation and how they can attract more Canadians to cross the border.
Snowbirds Canada booked Florida earlier than last year and paid premiums to do it
Overall, Canadian tourists actually visited less than last year. In the first quarter, 640,000 Canadians visited Florida. Still impressive, with a sudden decrease of 20% compared to 2024, according to CBS news.
Despite the fall, Florida still saw an overall increase in tourism compared to last year. The numbers are small due to domestic tourists, together with increasing from other countries such as Brazil.
As tourism increases, statistics show that Canadians do not turn to our journey, especially among Canadian snow birds. According to the analysis from LogicNot only canada’s snow bird locks Florida this year, but they do it early and pay 70%premiums.
Andrew Seaale wrote about Logic Writing, “Canadians locked their long-term Florida staying almost a month earlier this year compared to 2024 and paying a 70 percent premium to do so, according to data shared by the main data, which tracks bookings at Airbnb, VRBO and pretending to be other real estate management companies.”
Snowbirds Canada has proven that they are different types of travelers than others, still willing to pay premiums and continue their routine, especially since some of the snow birds also own property in the United States.
US representatives are monitoring this trend and targeting Canadian snow birds for longer accommodation. The bill has been suggested that it can save this kind of dedicated traveler to stretch longer.
US Reps Want to Increase Snowbird Canada Stay with Bill Proposal Without Visa
This bill is definitely not something new and has been modified for the sixth time now. The bill has now been revamped by several representatives Starting from New York, Florida and Arizona.
His representatives include Elise Stefanik of New York, Laurel Lee of Florida, and Greg Stanton of Arizona. The goal is to expand Canadian accommodation without visa up to 240 days-eight months-which can be given a visa-free journey.
The bill in question comes with the arrest and intended for those over 50 or those who have a home in the US
According to Florida Rep. Laurel Lee, the change not only strengthened the economy but also attracted the Canadians back and again to improve the bond between the two countries.
“We support job growth, strengthen our bond with our nearest neighbors, and help the local community thrive.”
To qualify for extended accommodation, the bill suggests that Canadian people must be more than 50 and their own property in the United States, they are not eligible for employment in the United States or for public assistance.
No reports have been issued on bill status. However, this may be a perfect opportunity to pass such a bill, as the Canadian snow bird remains loyal to the United States despite the ongoing tension.
Canada has been rejected into the United States for travel and overstaying purposes
Respecting Visa -free rules are most important for the US Customs and Border Protection Team. In fact, if there is a suspicion to go beyond the limit, GST can deny travel entry.
We saw this new incident happening when a Canadian tried to get married all over the border. Instead of making her to her wedding, Canada has been taken for fingerprint documentation. Canada rejected admission, despite staying for 154 days, the maximum allowed to be 180 days.
Given his goal of getting married, there are concerns that he will surpass the limit and exceed the 180 -day limit.

It is still visible in the future, but for now, it seems like a hard -working action is being taken for those who want to visit the US for more than 6 months.
The Snowbirds bill will not be in favor of those who are trying to stay in the United States longer, and the real visa will be needed for extended accommodation.
