Usually, love is in the air when you travel with that special person – if you choose the “Mile High Flight” package from a company called Magical Adventure Balloon Riding, it might be in the air.
Headquartered in Southern California, hot air balloon travel agency Describe the morning experience on its website Do it in a “Private Basket for Your Party”. The balloons do reach a height of 1 mile (5,280 feet) at the vineyards and golf courses themeLocated between Los Angeles and San Diego.
Paying to customers is not alone. However, the description continues: “We separate the pilot compartment from the passenger compartment with a privacy screen.” More importantly: “Our cautious pilots will wear protective hearing gear before taking off and landing and focus on flying balloons.”
This trip included the use of portable Bluetooth speakers. According to the company, “You provide music and any bedding.”
If this isn’t clear enough, the website assures us that this is exactly what you think.
Despite this, we still have questions. After calling Magical Adventure Balloon riding CEO and “Chief Pilot” Denni Barrett, we wondered if this is true. Are people really busy there in the clouds?
He replied: “What happens in the balloon, stay on the balloon.”
Indeed, cautious pilots.
According to Barrett, mile-high rides have been available since 2003, and the package is very popular among many other (G-class) flights the company offers. Barrett estimates that about 20,000 people attend the Magic Adventure Balloon rides each year, with three to four bookings per month.
He said the package was particularly popular among “old married couples” although the crowd has been moving towards young couples of various combinations (Straight, lgbtq+) because of what you have to do with Covid Pandemic.
Perhaps the suffering that survived inspired people to reach new heights.
Among the unique guests on the trip was a group of nudists and a confused family from Sweden who just wanted to be tall a mile from the balloon, Barrett said. (Nudeists and Swedes did not participate in the same tour.)
By the way, this is the unique elevation of this type of aircraft. Barrett tells us that standard hot air balloon rides are usually covered at 3,000 feet.
He said Barrett, the company’s main balloon operator, flew many miles high, as part of the package. It’s awkward, standing there wearing your noise headphones, and kind-hearted style-what is the carnival behind that privacy screen?
“Not at all,” he insisted, saying that because of the increase in winds, the high balloon involves “more concentration and skills”, he said, so he was too focused on staying safe and communicating with air traffic controllers to keep himself attentive to anything else.
From a passenger’s point of view, high-speed winds can ruin the mood, but, hey, it would be easy for no one to promise to join the Mile High Club.
Once the Balloon riders return to the ground, they will receive a certificate and confirm their membership at the August Club. They also accepted champagne toast.
Magical Adventure balloon rides are limited to consent participants over the age of 18. The experience is not cheap, and the price for two riders is $1,400. You can add other guests to your party for $159 per person (we don’t judge).
