- For the third consecutive year, the Myrtle Beach and Wilmington areas at the Carolinas Tops Pods Enterprises report where people moved.

- The report found that most Americans moved to the southeast, with Ocala, Florida, Raleigh, North Carolina, and Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina were among the most popular destinations.
Less Americans move every year, with 12.6 percent moving in 2022, down from 12.8 percent in 2021 and much lower than 16.8 percent moving in 2006, according to data by data by The US Census Bureau. However, almost a fifth of those who move on to make their steps to different situations. And this year, it seems that everyone is heading to the southeast.
Today, Pods EnterprisesA moving company and storage, releases a fifth annual trend report, which showcases US cities with the most moving and moving. It analyzes its internal long distance moving numbers between January 2024 and March 2025 to find out the top spot. Destination No. 1 is a rope between Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Wilmington, North Carolina.
“Myrtle Beach, Wilmington area leads our list for a third year record setting, suggests that more people might embrace the idea of living where others are on vacation,” the report said. “Living in this southeast coastal area checks boxes such as ability, hospitality, and access to nature, though they are not without risk during the Atlantic Hurricane season.”
In fact, the company found that the southeastern countries continued to be the top draw for the mover, with Ocala, Florida, who came in second, followed by Raleigh, North Carolina, and Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina, in third and fourth.
According to the company, the average distance transferred by Pods customers is nearly 1,300 miles, and almost 92 percent of the long distance steps are abroad.
“Our fifth annual movement trend outlines key trends that have shaped the patterns and priorities that have moved in the United States in recent years -which are assumed for warmer climate, lower cost of living, and greater focus on equilibrium and quality of life,” Rich Schwartz, Senior Vice President of Corporate Operations at Pods, shared. He added that “while the southeast continues to dominate the top of the list, we see areas across the south, such as Dallas-Fort Worth (No. 5), making big steps.”
So, where did people move from? According to the discovery, Southern California led the pack again in the move.
“The Northeast and West Coast continues to see a solid increase in people moving out, possibly due to the cost of living, congestion, and high insurance premiums, among other factors,” Schwartz added. “Given the ongoing economic uncertainty and the housing market remains strict, we expect continuous migration to cheaper and emerging markets nationwide.”
And although it didn’t make it to the top 10, Pods stated that there was a significant “uptick in moving to Midwest” compared to the previous year. That makes sense when you are a factor in the city -the city and the city of Midwest are often at the top The best place for a list of life.
