What you need to know

The appearance of Moxy Williamsburg

The first thing you will notice when you pull to the hotel is a huge pop art style mural of a woman driving a car on the side of the building: neon pink Moxy sign indicates you are in the right place.

Adjacent to the dedicated boarding table, behind a series of hand-painted skateboards by local artists, is the cozy lobby bar, Bar Bedford, where bar stools offer extra seating on both wooden bars and eclectic furniture. The hotel also features a restaurant in Tel Aviv-style restaurant Mesiba, a music lounge called Jolene Sound Room, nodding to Retro Recording Studios, and a rooftop bar with panoramic views of Manhattan.

The hotel rooms are a little small (this is New York City after all!), but the design works. Instead of a closet, the hotel is hanging clothes with nails on the wall, a locker with insufficient beds, and a small pull-down shelf used as a makeshift table. The sink goes off in the sleeping space, in a closed area that contains a walk-in rain shower, but be aware that frosted glass can only give so much privacy when you share the room. There is also a room with a bed of four.
