See Mike Krause on Slim’s! Mike Krause is a versatile guitarist, composer, and educator with a career that covers more than three decades. Graduates of Berklee Music College, he began his music journey at Philadelphia Solution Music School, where he studied percussion from a young age. He then shared his skills in Cleveland and Boston, soaking jazz, classic, rock, R&B, large bands, and Latin grooves before returning to work under the guidance of legendary peran Dawson. Mike hone his skills as a professional percussion before moving to the guitar, which is his main instrument and artistic voice.
As a guitar, Mike has appeared at the international festival and place, from SXSW in Austin to Zurich, Switzerland, and Stone Free Music Festival in Thailand. His work has been featured on the NPR The State of Things, and he has contributed to more than twenty studio albums. Collaboration includes projects with recognized artists such as Tift Merritt, Caitlin Cary, Chicas Tres, and Thad Cockrell, as well as session work with musicians related to Mary Chapin Carpenter, Ryan Adams, and Yo La Tengo.
In addition to doing so, Mike has dedicated more than 35 years to teach. He founded Cary’s guitar lessons in North Carolina, where he offered instructions in techniques, theories, improvements, and transcriptions in various styles, including blues, rock, country, and jazz. His work as a perpetrator and educator reflects his spirit to help others engage in music while continuing to develop his own art.
