The rooms/bathrooms are super old and run down. Front desk staff was super nice, staff in the bar was not friendly and acted put out to serve us dinner. Really unfriendly. Jacuzzi is 2-3 people maximum and it just seems like zero effort is put into the rooms

This hotel is in a perfect location…directly on the beach, and within a short walk of numerous restaurants. However, the property is old, dated, and worn- out. The exterior and interior design and decor appear to be 40 year old original. The vibe is more like “old motel” than a high end beach hotel. That said, it was comfortable, and we enjoyed our stay.

Excellent location in La Jolla. The rooms are large.
The walls are thin, and you can hear the people next door and their television.
The parking is $42 a day, plus a $32 daily “resort fee” and I wouldn’t call it a resort.
There are better hotels in the area. We had a good time, though.

My family has stayed at this hotel many times and we would bring friends. The last two times we were booked in a room away from other guests. Room 102. Not sure why. The hotel was not full. Our stay was from Sunday to Wednesday. The staff at the front desk both times were not as friendly. Perhaps there is new ownership. The hotel is beautiful but not what it use to be. The fake wood floor in the entrance to the dining room has visably lifted. Its not a good look and someone could trip over it.

Hotel is older, run down, window unit AC in the room, old Windows, fixtures etc & you hear everything! This is a 2.5 star hotel, marketed as a 3 and priced as a 4+. Overall it’s run down, noisy and not a good value for the accommodations.

It was wonderful with the exception of the child next door awakening us at 6am, the parents allowing it out on the outside balcony and continue to be noisy until they finally left the room at a little bit past 7:15. We realize this isn’t the hotel’s fault but perhaps consider having an adult section and a family section of the hotel ?

Movie that was shown in the pool area was a bit loud Saturday night. Probably because the screen was directly below our balcony window. Again, perhaps if you had an adult only section we would have been roomed there instead of right above the family movie screen. The movie was Tarzan and could be quite loud at times. We would have much preferred to hear the ocean waves.

What an amazing hotel! This was the best Travelzoo find. Right on the beautiful, scenic beach. The staff members were beyond kind and helpful. Our room was great- plenty of room and large beds with a great balcony overlooking a beautiful courtyard. Housekeeping lady was so wonderful and went above and beyond. We even utilized free hotel shuttle to take us to a lively dinner at Dukes. The staff that set up your umbrellas and chairs were so nice as well. I’d love to return here every year. We had a truly memorable time. Thank you La Jolla Shores and thank you Travelzoo.

The location is superb. The hotel itself is getting rather rundown and needs a lot of things fixed. The toilet had what I believe to be a leak of the flapper so that every five minutes or so the water would run to refill the tank for about 20 or 30 seconds. This was just a minor annoyance. The shower faucet required massive amounts of effort to get it to shut off so that the shower spout didn’t leak. I did not find the condition of the hotel to be worth the money that they charge. Especially since they add on $42 a night for parking and $32 a night as a resort fee on top of the high cost of the room itself made it overpriced in my opinion.
I will say the beds were very comfortable and the fact that they provided beach chairs, umbrellas, and towels on the beach was a plus.

Excellent hotel right on the sand. Great clean rooms, with good mattresses, pillows and towels. But what makes it the best is the staff!! Zephyr at check in was extremely helpful. Adrian at checkout made sure we got what we needed… and Sammy and the food services staff were spot on. We are planning on going back in October for a longer visit.!

Don’t plan on driving anywhere when you visit! You simply walk out to the beach and the staff will set up an umbrella and chairs… the sand is clean, the ocean warm and the view is magnificent. Dinner is right up the street at Piatti, or any number of other excellent restaurants. Oh, and don’t forget brunch at Shoreline Cafe….

I booked your Travelzoo deal with the hotel and it specifically states in there that although most quoted room rates does not include the resort fee but it said that this travel zoo deal DOES which is why we book with that hotel and I was charged for three nights resort fees. I called the hotel, and they refused to credit my account stating that it is not included and when I checked in the gentleman said that there’s a $32 resort fee and I told him at that time that I had the travelzoo deal where it was included in the quote of 229/night and he then said oh yes, OK. When I called the hotel to get credited they said it is not included regardless of what you (TZ) advertised and refused to credit the 3 night resort fees

Poor service. I e had a really bad water leak from AC unit. We reported as soon as we walked in and discovered it. Responded fairly quickly with more towels and a maintenance technician. However they didn’t even spread the new towels out or pick up the soaked ones. Maintenance said he fixed it. We leave for dinner and when we come back room is musky and hoot. Call again and they send someone again. He says unit is broken and replaced it. Again towels on floor not replaced. This was at midnight! We request a late checkout. We’re told they would call in morning. Guess what no call. So we check out and gentleman at front desk says sorry I thought you were going to call me!?!?!? Proceeds to comp parking and breakfast which was another horrible experience.

Hotel was quaint and nice looking. Great beach access. Rooms however were very dated. Musty and damp. AC worked but did not help with humidity and filter flashed needed changing throughout stay. Bathroom was very unclean upon arrival. Hair in shower. Hotel did supply plenty of towels though.
