Is it safe to go to the Caribbean?

Dreaming of a journey to Caribbean? Be sure to check your travel advice before planning your vacation.

The US State Department issued travel advice for each country to give travelers a sense of what to keep in their destination. There are four stages determined by factors such as crime, violence, disease, public unrest, and natural disasters.

• Level 1 shows the lowest level of risk.
• Level 2 recommends an increase in caution and higher risk.
• Level 3 means you need to reconsider your trip to this country, as there may be serious risks.
• Level 4 means you can’t go to this country.

“In countries under the Level 4 travel advisor, there are higher opportunities for life-threatening risks. The US government may also have no ability to help you if you have an emergency,” the US website said.

Caribbean as a whole is a safe destination, with most countries under Level 1. Some of the most popular holiday places are set by Level 2, while one country is set to level 3 and Level 4.

Countries of Level 1 in the Caribbean are: Saint Vincent and Grenadines, Sint Maarten, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Curacao, Cayman Islands, Barbados, Aruba, Antigua and Barbuda, Anguilla, Grenada, British Island, Saba, Saba, Saba, Saba, Saba, Saba, Saba, Saba, Saba, Saba, Saba, Saba, Saba, Saba.
