Ineos Automotive announces increased strategic response to new 25% import tariffs


Ineos Automotive announced a strategic response aimed at protecting its U.S. customers from the newly introduced 25% increase in import tariffs, prompted by policy decisions under President Trump. The company issued the statement on April 4, 2025 from its Montvale location, New Jersey, highlighting its commitment to minimizing the impact of the U.S. on consumers. Grenades and quartermasters were produced in the production facilities of the French company Hambach.

Lynn Calder, CEO of Ineos Automotive, said:

“We want to provide a clear state for our American grenade customers in a world of change and uncertainty. Until EU politicians get out of the way and reach an agreement with the United States, we are doing our best to protect our small competing brands to protect our aristocratic customers from rising tariff prices.”

The statement highlights the company’s intention to maintain a stable pricing structure despite external challenges.

Ineos Automotive has made several pricing adjustments to protect the interests of its customers. The company announced that it will place all U.S. grenade orders by April 3, 2025 without the additional expenses paid by new import duties, providing price protection for early adopters. For new grenade SUV orders, the price will only increase by 5%, resulting in a new starting figure of $78,900. The pickup model of the quartermaster has already paid a 25% chicken tax, and now affected by the 25% import tariff, it will increase by 10%, raising its new starting price to $92,900. By preventing these numbers from climbing further, Ineos Automotive aims to remain competitive and transparent in its North American market approach.

The Grenadier 4×4 was launched in the United States in 2023 and has been recognized for its off-road capability, durability and reliability. The vehicle is designed with a focus on modern comfort and sophistication that balances solid performance and everyday availability. The Quartermaster Pickup is a larger five-seat dual-cab option that is now being delivered to customers nationwide.

North America remains the largest market for Ineos Automobile, with more than 60% of global sales coming from the United States and Canada. A growing network of retail partners highlights the company’s commitment to supporting consumers locally. Ineos Automotive is expected to have 40 retail sites in the region by the end of this year.
