John F. Kennedy New York City (JFK) International Airport Transformation continues to jump. This week, the airport achieved great success when the new terminal 6 ended the curtain wall and attached a new terminal for the first time.
It was an important event, and the airport was on track for a huge opening in January – earlier than the schedule.
TPG is one of just two media channels to visit the new terminal, which will be the main step for airport infrastructure in the Northeast.
We also got our first look at the newly launched art installation that would welcome passengers when they arrived at the airport. You can see how the amazing mural will look like in the illustration below.
The 12,000 -square -foot “JFK Global Panorama” is a specially designed 3D -designed Ombre Art that features a New York City -based image and flight path depicting global connections.
JFK Airport Changed and Terminal 6 Brand 6
New York and New Jersey port authorities, running JFK, are in the middle of the $ 19 billion project to change the airport. When it’s done, there will be some new terminals, as well as new roads and ramps to make to and from the airport easier.
The team behind the great Terminal B at the true Laguardia Airport -The Redone New York City (LGA) also built Terminal 6 at JFK.
JFK Millennium Partners gave TPG a visit to the new terminal 6 and told us about how terminal 7 next to it would eventually be demolished. In its footsteps, four more doors for the second phase of the project will be part of the 6 -term terminal. The second phase is expected to open in 2028.
The new terminal will be 1.2 million square feet and offers 10 new doors, some of which will be built to operate a large body jet. You can get a good idea of the size of the space when you look at the new central hub of the new terminal.

The departure area will feature one of the longest release in JFK, with a branded passenger drop-off zone.
They are truly rebuilding the road system in front of the terminal as well. It will have more entry and logic outlet, as well as easy access to two different air stations.

In the end, it will be less than five minutes walk from the TSA security checkpoint to all doors.

Once through safety, you will be able to enter the Giant Welcome Hall, the Grand Hall, which will feature a large-scale and 100,000-square-foot Skylight in New York City and eateries.

Terminal 6 will have five air flight lounges, plus the arrival lounge. JFK Millennium told me that no airline has been confirmed to host the first arrival lounge at JFK Airport (so if you are an interested airline, there is still time to seize space).
It’s hard to tell in the picture below, but this is where Lufthansa opens a new lounge at Terminal 6, which will have a special entrance through the escalator. Although we do not have all the details, we expect it to include Lufthansa’s first -class lounge, a dedicated business class and senator.

Aer Lingus also confirmed that it would have A dedicated lounge In terminal 6; It will be achieved through a set of stairs you can see in the picture below.
In the picture above, you can see that the left is where you will walk towards terminal 5 once the construction is completed.
The new terminal will be connected to both the land and the air to the adjacent terminal 5, which is home to the JFK Jetblue Airways Hub. By the time the project is completed, you will be able to repeat between terminal 5 and 6 to buy -We as well as a jumping lounge.

The luggage system is amazing. It starts with a biometric bag falling on the check -in. From there, the luggage will be carried through a complex conveyor belt system and scanned by the robot.

Another thing to keep in mind about the project is the focus of the environment. The terminal uses sustainable building materials, solar power on the roof, and energy efficient systems and operating practices throughout. JFK Millennium Partners told me that it was intended to have Leed Silver or Gold certification for the project.
Bottom Line
When done, the modified terminal 6 will be a sight to see. From dramatic skylight to Grand Hall, biometric inspections and bags fall to robot baggage operators, this airport terminal will be a revelation.
It can be one of the best airport terminals in the country-and will provide other LGA and Newark Liberty (EWR) International Airport for the best Tri-State Airport when everything is over.
