We have a lot of national park news including delays, closures and new admission fees policies. Starting with delays and closures, visitors are Blue Ridge Parkway is warned of nine miles of closure and detoursongoing rehabilitation work. Blue Ridge Parkway is implementing a complete road closure and detour with Roanoke, Virginia Corridor. There is no timetable to reopen. The project has been in place since the summer of 2024.
We have other announcements. After other national parks in the U.S., both Arcadia National Park and Black Canyon in Gunnison National Park have made significant changes to admission fees.
We will look closely at the changes and how park visitors respond to the new admission fee policy.

Black Canyon National Park is turning to cashless system
Black Canyon in Gunnison National Park immediately announced major changes. Moving forward, the National Park will only accept mobile or electronic payments for entrances, camping and licensing fees. Cash is not allowed.
The National Park Service added that current credit and debit sales account for 95% of total sales in the park.

Changes in national parks are certainly nothing new, as people like Acadia announced the same change a few weeks ago.
Acadia National Park received different reactions to the same announcement at the end of March
As of April 15, Arcadia National Park will also use a completely cashless systemaccept mobile payments, credit and debit cards. Acadia does point out that for those who want to use cash, they can buy passes from third-party vendors.
Arcadia National Park has at least 9 third-party suppliers.

The Black Canyon in Gunnison National Park has made another announcement, which is related to North Ring Spring Opens. Unfortunately, reopening will be delayed until mid-May due to delays in road maintenance.
