Remember Windjammer Barefoot Cruises? Ten years ago, they were self-styled pirates of the cruise business, cruising a week (and longer) cruising on a bunch of old-fashioned tall ships, plus a dark-looking cargo/passenger ship that made them all supply. The ships were privately cultivated in the Caribbean, snapped up passengers at different island ports and removed the itinerary to think ahead. The line lives on the edge, keeping its vessels within the legal limits, while the crew is almost paid, while accumulating loyal repeat guests attracted by the outsider’s image and hoping for unstructured, almost no hold pleasure. Then Once was Funny – Very interesting, we missed it because in 2007 the line finally got off the moral and financial rope it had been walking and collapsed with echoing kaboom.
Flashing to 2009, all of these Windjammer fans (some of whom have been navigating dozens of times year after year – still there, many are still sad because no similar cruising has emerged to replace Windjammer’s location. Enter Island Windjammers, a startup founded by Windjammer barefoot passengers and passengers. In November 2009, the line began offering a 6-night cruise per week on the 101-foot, 12-passenger Brigantine Schooner diamond. Everything old is new! If it is more mature and less, we can say it is illegal. Although the line starts small, it is desirable to add larger vessels as they mature. We wish them good luck because Caribbean cruise companies desperately need this small casual choice to balance Megaship Bigwigs.
diamond Built in 1978, it is more similar to the small wind energy that sails on the coast of Maine, rather than the barefoot wind power! The boat is tight and simple, with six air-conditioned cabins, complete with portholes and a private bathroom, a combined lounge/dining room, an outdoor dining area and many open deck spaces. Oh, there is something like this: she is Gorgeous, There are beautiful profiles, lovely details and shiny woodwork throughout the process. Cruise in the Grenadines (this type of boat is an absolutely ideal location), visiting the Mariku, Merro, Morro, Tobago countryside, United Island, Palm and Biqueia. While the line consciously tries to mimic the super barefoot atmosphere and whips the iconic rum in the evening, it avoids heavy drinking and risqué party atmospheres, sometimes causing Windjammer boats to cross the edge.
Rate diamondThe cruise starts at $1,599 per person (or $265 per day) and includes all meals, beer, wine, soft drinks, port tax and crew.
