To the month of Kick -f Earth, Air Canada announced its ground operations at Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) will achieve 100 % GSE fleet in all its main categories by 2025.
Quebec will become the first airline station in Canada to achieve this, eliminating the use of Air Canada for fossil fuel equipment in a complete transportation of all luggage tractors, slopes, belt races, energy store, container races and aircraft tractors.
This plan is a step forward towards Air Canada’s goal of pure greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) by 2050, with medium -term targets ranging between 30 % of greenhouse gases from ground operations, and 20 % of their air operations.
Over the past years, Air Canada has retired and has been replaced by ancient fossil -fossil equipment throughout Canada with more electrical equipment. It now has more than 900 pieces of EGSE equipment, representing 35 % of the GSE fleet in all categories.
Its Earth’s fleet includes installed electrical alternatives that help operational efficiency and reduce emissions.
The new EGSES is designed to reduce direct emissions compared to the GSES, and it is expected to reduce maintenance and division costs, eliminate direct fuel costs, and contribute to the costs of the airline.
“This project explains the successful cooperation between Air Canada and YQB airport in developing the shipping infrastructure needed to support the transition to the Electric GSE (EGSE) fleet directly,” said Michael Rousso, President and CEO of Air Canada.
“We are committed to a coordinated approach to this long -term energy transition as we work within an environmental system for manufacturers, suppliers, airports and governments, and they all play an integral part of this important initiative.”
