Today, the launch customer of the Airbus airspace was revealed today. It was announced during the 2025 interior designs exhibition held in Hamburg, Germany. The Canadian airline confirmed that the new cabin will be delivered on 43 Airbus A220
Delivery, which is scheduled to arrive in March 2026.
The new cabin will introduce a new design language known as “Glowing Heart”, which will be filtered to the remaining Air Canada fleet. A “lar” upgrade group can be seen on Airbus
The A220 will be the largest “Airbus XL BINS”, which adds space, reduces weight, increases performance on time.
New funds will enhance performance on time
Airbus A220 will be Air Canada Air Canada is the first A220 to be provided with Airbus’ XL BIN, modified from the current A320neo
Family design. During a presentation of the press, Ingo and Wogitzer (Vice President for Marketing in Airbus) revealed that XL boxes on A220 will lead the following benefits:

John Moody, the administrative director of Air Canada on the product, suggested that the increasing volume boxes will improve performance on time (OTP) for the Canadian flag holder. The reason for this is to board the plane. Passengers no longer prevent the corridors trying to find space for their right. In addition, fewer bags should be removed and put in wait if the space runs out. Moody commented, speaking to the simple flying of the margin of the event,
Getting more planes with a larger space will only improve OTP for our network as a whole. The great benefits here are OTP and less weight.
Cutting weight from the boxes
In addition to providing more space, Airbus A220s also cut weight on the plane. This is due to the designed closing mechanism. Because it is much less complicated, as it weighs less. Of course, low weight is a blessing for multiple reasons in the aviation industry, and this is really all that matters.
The amount of fuel that the plane uses on the flight is closely associated with the plane’s weight (along with other variables). It uses a lighter lower fuel plane, and although it may be a small amount, it quickly adds over time. Burning fuel means that Air Canada does not buy much fuel, which enhances profits for the airline.
However, fuel use was recently linked to sustainability. Each ounce of non -burning flying fuel means that the lowest carbon dioxide enters the atmosphere. Moody added, commenting on this aspect,
Low weight is just an airline. Not only for sustainability, but also for profitability … fuel is one of the first costs. So low weight is one of those areas where sustainability and profitability are aligned.

1/3 of the fleet will get boxes to start
To date, Air Canada 35 A220s delivery from Airbus. It will start delivering XL boxes from 43, which is currently scheduled in March 2026. This means that 42 of the company’s 65 orders that Air Canada for the A220 will not be delivered with the airspace. Since these aircraft are relatively new, it is not logical to renovate them immediately. However, priority for these 42 aircraft will be given in the next cabin upgrade.
Speaking to simple flights, MOODY does not feel that the mixture mix will be a big problem in the meantime, noting,
The boxes in the first 42 aircraft are still very wide. Frankly, we do not have many problems when it comes to absorbing all customer bags on this type of plane.
