Update for Lufthansa from Jens Ritter

After a difficult year in 2024, especially in terms of adherence to dates, Lufthansa 200 million euros invest this year to stabilize flight operations. During a media briefing in Munich, correspondent Court Hoffman spoke with the CEO of Lufthansa Air Company Jeans Retter.

Investments and measures

The new brand and its approval by the airline-newest addition to Lufthansza to the fleet, Airbus A350-900 “Solingen” with D-AIXZ registration, in the Munich line maintenance fold, waiting for the first trade trip to Bangalore. This fourth plane, with the new Lufthansa Aligris cabin, is equipped with the new first class, a product of the CEO of Lufthansa Airlines, Jens Ritter, great hopes.

Why was the new A350 published with the first -class ALLLGRIS in Bangalore and Mumbai, not to the United States of America? “The United States of America states that a new commercial plane must be first in service for a month before it is allowed to fly to the American airspace,” said Rieter.

Jens Ritter explains important and decisive factors to maintain the competitiveness of Lufthansza: “After Frankfurt, Munich is the second most important center of the airline.

“In addition to the chaos of snow in the past winter 2023/24, including frozen rain and massive pregnancy peaks in the summer of 2024, all this provided us with our regime’s tremendous challenges,” said Rieter. As a result, major changes and modifications began.

Lufthansa Airlines CEO Rieter is now responsible for the Munich Center to oversee its development. There is an urgent need for adequate, qualified and motivated employees. Lufthansa Airlines increased the workforce in Munich by 22 percent compared to 2024 and sees itself well prepared for the summer of 2025. In addition, investments are made for further development for employees, who are now multi -rehabilitation and can be published in various roles.

Increase the connection time in Munich by 10 minutes

In order to prepare for a strong summer and to ensure adherence to the dates, the transportation times in Munich will increase for ten minutes, knowing that this can be harmful to the critical competition between global centers.

The ground times for all aircraft in Munich will be increased for ten minutes to allow more time to clean, refuel, loading and unload. “We are adjusting the times for those trips that have a special respectable time for up to 30 minutes until the passengers reach their destination on time, but also until the plane returns to Munich,” says CEO.

The last Bavarian long trip will start at 10:20 pm, so there is enough insulating time until the night trip is banned. Lufthansza’s checkpoint in Munich has been expanded by 30 percent, which is the luggage system by 22 percent. Security tests have been widely modified, increasing the capacity of 30 percent.

Lufthansa A380

Regarding the topic of the fleet, the Ritter explains that the A380 is still very popular with passengers. “Since January 21, the last A380, D-AAMA, returned from maintenance in Manila, where she was subject to 12 years old,” explains. In addition to the remaining promotions in Frankfurt and mandatory maintenance trips, the A380 will be transferred to Munich in February.

In the summer of 2025, eight Lufthansa A380s will fly to Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Washington, Delhi, and for the first time, Denver. “The first is for Denver, as he was unprecedented on a journey scheduled.” Of the eight A380s, six will work on scheduled trips. To ensure stability, two A380s in the reserve.

There is also 30 Airbus A350s on Munich, with another to follow in 2025. All A350S will be equipped with Allegri cabin. 14 more A350S in the future system.

Six A350s is temporarily transferred from Munich to Frankfurt because there is a significant shortage of modern aircraft there due to the known delivery problems in Boeing. “The current older fleet is intense maintenance, each fifth plane is kept as a reserve, which reduces the ability of the aircraft.”

Efforts are also made to get about 787 seconds of Boeing, which are now fully drawn and equipped with Allegris product, but standing on the apron in Charleston. Like 787s can be used with banned business degree seats and then obtaining a certificate on the seats. This can gain additional capacity.

“All of these measures cost 200 million euros, which are invested to create a significantly positive customer experience,” said Rieter.

The transformation strategy

“We want to be one of the world’s most famous airlines known and develop in the excellent airline brand, and of course also on the most profitable side. Despite positive developments in recent months, we have not yet seen there. For this reason the transformation project has started,” Rierter said.

“We need to increase the quality again, increase efficiency and reduce the wide complications in the Lufthanna aviation system. The focus is on commercial measures, the clear focus and position on the types of flights and types of aircraft, and improving and modernizing operations.” It is extremely important for me to continue to invest continuously in trying the product and experience.

More than 600 measures have been implemented. From the current seven air operations under Lufthansa Airlines Umbrella, we want to focus on three flights: Lufthansza Classic, Lufthansza City Airlines and discover airlines, as well as a strategic partner to rent wet that supports operations with smaller aircraft, “In Ritter.

Lufthansza’s growth plans are also reduced. In 2025, the airline will operate with a capacity of approximately 90 percent compared to 2019. This corresponds to an increase of 3.5 % compared to 2024, i.e. moderate growth.

There is also a great focus on maintaining the fleet of continent vehicles, employee efficiency and increasing revenues. “The basic and structural changes are necessary,” said Rieter.
